Role
The Youth Development Specialist provides direct instruction and supervision for children enrolled in the Boys & Girls Clubs
Education and Experience
-Must be 18 years of age
-Must be able to read and write effectively
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications and Characteristics
1.
Performs duties under general supervision with a high degree of initiative and good judgment.
2.
Must be detailed.
3.
Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with children, parents, staff, teachers, principals, site directors, and program directors.
4.
Must follow through with oral and written instructions
5.
Must possess adequate visual, auditory, and motor skills in order to take care of children.
6.
Must exhibit tact and understanding when dealing with children, parents, and system personnel.
Essential Duties:
1.
Plans and implements daily and weekly activities for a group of club members.
2.
Assists Unit director in the daily operation of the program site
3.
Assists in maintaining daily attendance reports and other clerical tasks.
4.
Assists in distribution and maintenance of equipment
5.
Assists in the parent drop off and pick up of members
6.
Assumes responsibilities as assigned by the Unit Director
7.
Enrichment activities will be included
8.
May be required to drive a Club van periodically
9.
May consult with parents concerning a member and branch issues
10.
Must attend all mandatory staff meetings and training
