Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, Activity Director or appointed designee, the Vehicle Operator drives and accompanies residents and staff on organized trips off-campus.
Assists in the maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and may perform other general physical plant preventive and corrective maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Drives passenger bus or other vehicles for facility residents to attend off-campus events and outings including lunch trips, community outings, shopping etc.
Accompanies and assists residents during community outings as requested by their supervisor.
As assigned, provides driving services to other on-campus facilities.
Assists residents on and off the bus; assists with handling packages.
2.
Maintains assigned vehicles.
Operates facility vehicles according to specifications.
Assists in the routine maintenance of vehicles according to established plans.
Reports maintenance problems to supervisor for resolution.
3.
Maintains appropriate records.
Maintains attendance records for all off-campus outings.
Maintains appropriate vehicle records including fuel and repair records.
Ensures current validation of fire extinguisher.
4.
May assist with program/facility set-up (e.
g.
, tables, chairs) for on-campus department/facility activities as assigned.
5.
May assist with general physical plant maintenance and housekeeping assignments as needed, including maintaining grounds, repairing equipment, or removing trash.
6.
Complies with Wesley Woods standards of conduct and job-related behavior.
Attends required courses and training.
Participates in staff and task force meetings as requested.
Complies with hazardous material management procedures, as appropriate.
Complies with annual employee health assessment.
Maintains acceptable attendance standards.
7.
Performs other responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
One years’ experience in a similar job driving a 15-person mini-bus/van; geriatric and/or health care experience preferred.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License: CDL license preferred.
No current violations.
Must qualify as a driver according to Wesley Woods standards.
Ability to lift at least fifty pounds; to bend, stoop and twist and push a wheelchair.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Normal long-term geriatric health care residence and health care environments.
May be required to drive in and be exposed to inclement weather.
Additional Information
This position will generally work 20 hours per week; however, the position requires a willingness and flexibility in working hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities including occasional evening or weekend work.
The employee is subject to personnel policies and procedures prescribed for all employees.
