ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to Senior Center Director
STATUS: Non-exempt, Full Time- Onsite schedule
JOB SUMMARY
Perform all work involving transportation of participants to and from the congregate Meals program and other trips mandated by the program, responsible for the maintenance of all vans and related reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Transports all participants to and from the center and assists them as necessary in getting on and off the van
Transport center participants weekly to the grocery store and assists the clients with the loading and unloading of their purchases
All other trips approved by the senior center director before they are made
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all vans
Complete and submit monthly reports - mileage, gas, and other transportation reports
Assists with packing out meals and Delivering Meals for HDM participants
Performs other duties as assigned by the senior center director such as helping in the kitchen.
Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience, OR any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge and Experience:
Knowledge of basic gerontology, including illness and behaviors characteristic of an aging population
Knowledge of health and fitness, particularly relating to older adults
Knowledge of basic nutrition concepts
Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet
Public speaking
Skills:
Maintain daily/weekly and monthly transportation logs
Licensure and Certification
Valid Georgia Driver's License and CDL if driving a van that accommodates 15 or more passengers
CPR and First Aid

Able to assist clients on and off the transportation vehicles Assist clients with groceries on shopping days
Maintain the transportation vehicles and complete daily safety checks
Regularly required to use hands to write, use computer, operate a motor vehicle, use hand-held device and telephone, and manipulate documents.
Regularly required to read documents and write neatly, legibly, and transcribe accurate information and numbers/values.
Continually engages in activities that require talking and hearing
Frequent: Standing, sitting, walking, bending, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
Occasionally required to lift or reach above shoulder level, climb, twist, squat, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems.
Ability to attend on or off-site meetings, training sessions, and seminars in related field.
