*Job Title: Director of Development *
*Overview: *
The Director of Development is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day functions of institutional development within the school in order to build and maintain a support base and to advance the mission of the school.
This position will oversee marketing, advancement, and alumni relations, providing a unified and developmentally sound mission-driven approach to the department.
*Qualifications and Experience: *
_Required _
● A commitment to Christ and Christian education
● Whole-hearted and enthusiastic support of CHS’s Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Faith.
● A demonstrated ability in the following areas: personable one-on-one, small group and large group communication, organization, delegation, and relationship building.
● An understanding of the nature and purpose of institutional development within the non-profit organization.
● Computer proficiency: database, word processing (some desktop publishing).
● Bachelor’s degree and/or requisite experience in the field.
_Preferred _
● Experience with mission-driven giving, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management.
● Easily perceived creative ability and vision.
● Proven track record in fundraising, including capital campaigns, events, annual funds, donor stewardship, and grant writing.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *
● In conjunction with the Administration, educate and inspire school families, volunteers, trustees, school staff, and the community regarding 1) the school’s mission, 2) the Christian philosophy of education, and 3) the principles of development.
● To develop a plan to increase alumni and parental support of, and involvement in, the school.
● Personally cultivate donors and pre-donors and ensure all major donors are optimally cultivated - acquiring, renewing, and upgrading donors through a comprehensive Development Plan.
● Be a servant leader who builds an incredible development team.
● Oversee the tracking and receipting of all donations on donor software.
Use reporting functions to analyze trends and strategize goals.
● In conjunction with the development staff, produce marketing tools and donor related mailings to also include the school website.
● Represent the school to both the internal and external constituencies.
● Manage all cash and non-cash gift negotiations and transfers.
● Submit monthly reports to the Head of School, showing results versus goals and costs versus budget.
● Plan and oversee major annual fundraising events for the school.
● To serve as a member of the Administrative Team.
● To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
● To support the school and its leadership.
