*Job purpose*
The purpose of the QA Technician is to analyze and help monitor the progress and the quality chemical reactions both on in-process materials and on finished goods.
*Duties and responsibilities *
• Perform the quality testing for production batches.
• Perform quality testing of raw material and finished goods.
• Demonstrate the ability to make routine decisions involving quality issues.
• Maintain analytical reagents.
• Ensure proper recordkeeping of QA results.
• Ensure that safety guidelines for the lab are followed
• Ensure that chemicals are appropriately stored and labeled.
• Ensure that the QA lab area is kept clean and orderly.
*Qualifications*
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform this job include:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Mathematical skills and chemical knowledge.
• Proficient in use of software and computer applications such as Word, Powerpoint, etc.
*Working conditions*
• Majority of work will be performed in a laboratory setting with associated risks as expected in an industrial chemical lab.
Conditions include, but are not limited to: chemical odors, slippery surfaces, fragile glassware, equipment with moving parts, hot surfaces, compressed gases.
• Hazardous chemicals are sometimes used in the course of lab work
• Task appropriate PPE is required at all times.
• Occasional work in the chemical production area is required.
This work will involve exposure to hazards associated with an industrial chemical production site.
The conditions can be, but not limited to: slippery or uneven surfaces, chemical odors, climbing ladders and stairs, temperatures from 32 deg F to 100 deg F, fork lift traffic, hoses, various chemical storage vessels, moving parts, hot surfaces.
Hazardous chemicals are occasionally used in the production areas.
*Physical requirements *
• The position has minimal physical requirements.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required
• Ability to work in a non-smoking, tobacco-free site.
