Job Description Title: Machining First Inspector Department: Machining Type: Full Time Other: Machining Manager Reports to: Machining Supervisor Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: Per Wage Scale Direct reports N/A Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring, Inc.
was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru.
We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees.
We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly.
We are part of Hitachi Astemo, inc.
with 90,000 employees worldwide.
Tasks and Responsibilities: This quality assurance position is responsible for the final inspection of Aluminum parts and Brake Component Parts.
Uses gauges, markers, fixtures, jigs, calipers or any other measuring device to ensure parts meet customer requirements.
The Machining 1st Inspector will support and aid in the Quality of parts per line(s).
Making sure we are in Quality Compliance with the Quality of our part.
Complete part quality checks in compliance with the standard for each model Support the review and disposition of defective parts Support confirming check sheets are complete.
This position will also require that the person understands and can perform testing as directed by the Quality team.
When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
Safety & Environmental: Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others.
Coordinates safety and environment repair activities.
Quality: Assist to ensure that parts knowledge and training is completed where needed.
Follows work instructions and point cards and other direction as given.
Ensures quality requirements and packaging requirements are met.
Ensures associates understands and follows all change point procedures and completes all required documentation.
Delivery: Responsible for ensuring the accuracy quantity and labeling of lot tags as they are packed for shipment to assembly Responsible for communication to production management any concerns.
May use pallet jacks for material movement.
Productivity: Timely completion of tasks.
Suggest and Implement improvement ideas.
Cross trained in various location selected positions in one or more departments.
Reporting: Supports Business Plan Targets and monitors measurable goals based on Business Plan objectives.
Reports quality issues to quality department and production issues to Manufacturing department Key Metrics Responsibility: Zero quality claims Zero late shipments Zero safety incidents Others as required to meet Business Plan objectives Preferred Skills: Blue Print reading, hand tools use, Measuring tools experience Good problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills, able to build friendly work relationships Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office programs (a plus) Minimum Experienced Preferred: HS Diploma or GED Previous experience in related field 2-5 years Hitachi Astemo experience (desired) Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, to use hand to finger; handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
Requires regular lifting of weights up to 5 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Requires repetitive lifting (>700 each shift) of weights up to 15 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
