The Refrigeration Service Technician I is responsible for the support of the retail operation through maintenance, installation and repair of refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Take ownership of the refrigeration systems and become a proactive partner of the stores in his/her home Conduct periodic checks and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment so that critical failures do not Diagnose and maintain all mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control aspects of the supermarket refrigeration Install new and remove old equipment as needed for remodel and Conceive and help develop procedures and strategies that can be adopted company wide for improved performance, reduced down time and cost Maintain all records necessary for government and company ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Light welding, brazing and metal Work on a 24-hour on call basis, as (The goal is to develop a preventative maintenance program that allows for a normal 40 hour work week).
Assist the RST-II with diagnostic Perform leak checks to ensure EPA compliance and for diagnostic EQUIPMENT: Service van Leak detectors Brazing torch Hand drill Pipe cuter Laptop for record keeping and control interface Reclaim equipment COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENT: Must be courteous and positive in all interactions while representing K-VA-T.
Clearly set daily activities for self Pass along information for tracking and procedural Explain ramifications of airflow, product placement and associate interaction on the effectiveness and cost of WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal smoke-free office and retail Adequate lighting and Normal temperature level, ceiling heights and noise level for typical office and retail SAFETY REQUIREMENT/HAZARDS: Exposed to physical injury, all recognized governmental, industry and K-VA-T safety procedures must be Exposed to chemicals, liquid and gas, all recognized governmental, industry and K-VA-T safety procedures must be Exposed to heat and cold, all recognized governmental, industry and K-VA-T safety procedures must be WORK LOCATIONS: Individual stores in assigned WORK SCHEDULE: Check-up and maintenance work should be scheduled for the standard 40 hour work Critical failures that will affect product integrity must be performed as needed, regardless of schedule and time of Planned work that will affect store operations will have to be coordinated with the stores to work around the retail The payroll week runs from Saturday until Friday.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Periods of walking, standing and Climb ladders and Occasional lifting and positioning of up to 100 pounds.
Periods of high noise Drive service van.
VISUAL DEMANDS: View computer screens.
Must be able to see different colors.
Ability to see or locate dangers and hazards.
Ability to read blue prints.
Ability to read small print.
Ability to read meters and gauges.
Ability to see under normal lighting conditions.
MENTAL DEMANDS Must possess ability to handle stressful situation in completion of assignments and duties.
Must be able to satisfactorily perform while working in a closed, confined area.
Must be able to perform essential job functions with little or no supervision.
Must be able to work with individuals with varying levels of pressure in completion of assignments.
Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide support for the company wide retail and distribution operations with regards to the maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration and electrical equipment.
DECISION DISCRETION Must possess the ability to make effective decisions to ensure that all electrical equipment, HVAC and refrigeration systems at the retail and distribution center facilities operate at an optimal level.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 years experience in refrigeration maintenance and accredited training on the principals of refrigeration, or 7 years experience in refrigeration maintenance.
Experience with single and parallel compressor systems.
Competence with electronic refrigeration control systems.
Valid refrigerant certification.

Experience with secondary or chilled water systems.
